The flowers that bloom in the spring,
Tra la,
Breathe promise of merry sunshine.
As we merrily dance and we sing,
Tra la,
We welcome the hope that they bring,
Tra la,
Of a summer of roses and wine.
(The Mikado, Act II)
I'm a great fan of The Mikado, and also a great fan of Al's Garden Center in Woodburn, Oregon. We just loaded up on Saturday for a week of planting. Stop by this summer for roses and wine!

What are the purple and white plants in the background? I thought the purple might be lavender but then I saw the white one.

That is heather. Others are Periwinkle will have blue flowers, English Daisy (little red flowers), and Candytuft (white flowers.) All are in the ground cover family for the hillside.
