September Transitions

For most Americans, September is a time of transition. The school year is the great organizer of public life and for most classes start on the Tuesday after Labor Day. I have heard that some mothers go out to celebrate on this day. Their summer with the kids is over.

For our family this is a time of transition, too. It has been our tradition for quite a few years to spend Labor Day at the Oregon State Fair. And then there are two birthdays to celebrate. In the old days I would be thinking about new beginnings in the parish. A would be wondering if she would have a class room or making a mad dash in preparing for one.

Today I took down my sweet pea vines, a sure transition into fall. I was able to gather one last batch of fragrant beauties, though. I think this is the longest I have had any, a surprise for this warm summer. Any transitions you'd like to share? Add them to the comments section.
