High Body Count

We watched 3:10 Yuma this afternoon, courtesy of Netflix. I've graduated from watching the American Movie Channel to Netflix. We're scheduled to lose AMC soon as it isn't really in our basic cable package. Every so often AMC shows Charles Bronson's Death Wish films. There's little plot; --only enough to justify a high level of violence. Events in the plots just couldn't happen anywhere. It might be valid to complain about the violence in the Godfather series or in Clint Eastwood pictures as well. Apparently, a high body count appeals to a certain segment of our population.

3:10 seems to be seeking the high body count prize. I think high body counts cheapen human life. It's possible to tell a story without them. I like Russell Crowe, but I think this story could have been told without the gore. Remember High Noon? Plenty of drama but a tiny body count.
