Tacoma Washington is building a Reconciliation Park in acknowledgement of it's past treatment of the Chinese who once lived there. The Tacoma incident is only one episode in a tragic story now coming out in Driven Out: The Forgotten War Against Chinese Americans. I grew up in Tacoma and have an interest in what happens there.
There have been various attempts at ethnic cleansing in American history. I think it's best to acknowledge that our country has its dark side. It helps us understand why we are not universally loved in this world.
