The Seasonal Tipping Point

Today is the shortest day of the year. From now on, until summer, the days will be getting longer. Maybe you are affected with SAD. Google it, if you must, there is a ton of information. No doubt about it. The short days and long nights can get to us. Electricity and the light bulb were't known in the ancient world. So the Winter Solstace was a time to celebrate. Finally, light was going to win over darkness. The Christians said in effect, "Hey, we want in on the fun without the exesses," and Christmas was born. (Jesus wasn't born on December 25th, you know. If you don't know and care, look it up.)

Today's Christmas season is often a combination of SAD, pagan holiday and religious festival. The theme of my little blog is "as time goes by." Cling to those whose face lights up when you come into the room. Forgive the rest. Tip the right way and don't let the season get you down.

((and if you are family, remember Lois is in China))
