Today, our beautiful Christmas tree stands strangely naked. All her wonderful gifts, and several that didn't fit beneath her branches, are gone. Gone, too, are the Christmas celebrants who gathered here Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Kind of sad. Christmas at our house is a happy time, so we miss it when it's over. Those who gather at our house are just folks, not the rich and famous. We love and respect each other and enjoy each other's company. And we know this is a blessing not shared by all.I suppose the true origin of gift giving is lost in the distant past. Was giving inspired by the Wise Men who brought gifts to the Infant Christ? Or did we baptize the giving traditions of the ancient Romans or germanic tribes? No matter what the source, we gave our gifts with the hope that they would bring you pleasure when you use them. So we hope they are bringing you pleasure this very day. Being of a certain family, we are enjoying any number of gifts in our own way. (Try it first, and if that doesn't work, read the directions.) May your holidays continue happy!
