If you want to grow anything in Oregon, you will have to wage war with slugs and snails. I love to grow sweet peas. Slugs love to eat them. Until I caught up with them this year, they were mowing off the top of my cala lilies. The home remedy for slugs and snails is beer. Turns out they love that, too. Put some in a saucer and they will climb in gorge and drown themselves. Another home remedy turns out to be my favorite beverage coffee!
