The true weapon of mass destruction is hunger. Hunger kills millions of people each year, many of them women and children under five. It is in our power to end hunger in our life time, but it requires getting on the front lines opposing those forces who prolong hunger.
The agenda of Bread for the World is rooting out and destroying hunger. One of their weapons is called the "Offering of Letters."

Hunger is a much more devastating and ruthless killer than even acts of violence. The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that last year 854 million people went to bed on a regular basis hungry. Last month, with the global food crises, FAO estimated that we need to add 130 million more who do not consume enough calories per day and subject to hunger, malnutrition and associated ills. The old statistics say that 28,000 children under the age of 5 die every day from preventable diseases, at least half of those hunger related. Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation's decision makers to end hunger at home and abroad. By changing policies, programs and conditions that allow hunger and poverty to persist, we provide help and opportunity far beyond the communities in which we live (www.bread.org) Thank you for posting this and let me know if you are interested in posting something on BREAD blog.
