Going to Rainier? Take the Shuttle

No more parking at Paradise, so people park along the roadside and walk up. We parked way down at the bottom of this picture, which was taken about half way up.

I did learn that my 73 year old body still has some life in it as I hiked up the highway for about three miles in the heat. Here I await those in our party who took the scenic route and arrived about an hour and a half later.

Going to Rainier? Take the shuttle. A couple of years ago, we visited Zion National Park and were surprised to learn that to see the park, you have to take a shuttle bus. We learned by doing that shuttle is the way to go. It saves worry over parking. The driver can watch the scene instead of the road.
We learned a little too late that Mt. Rainier also now has a shuttle between Longmire and Paradise Inn. We had to go past Paradise and back down the mountain side to find parking.

However, learn we did as G and I took the shuttle back to Longmire.
