It's good to remember Custer on Memorial Day because his career reminds us that just because it was done by the US military, that doesn't make it right. We are currently spending 626 billion dollars a year on military activities. The New York Times reports that the Pentagon had its own Propaganda machine promoting the Iraq war. Unfortunately, some observances of Memorial Day fall into the same category.
