Well, now that I sold my car, how am I going to get around? I'm not in a hurry to buy another car, though I am saving the proceeds of the sale as a nest egg. We have another car, of course, but A uses it in a more busy social life than I have.Yesterday I took the city bus to town and back. Not a bad deal, really. The bus stop is about a block away. They come by every hour and for $1.00 one can ride the whole system all day. The ride from our house to West Salem is a bit round about, but the return trip is a direct shot. So with a little planning, any business in West Salem can be done in an hour. The ride from West Salem over the bridge is free and runs every half hour, also a pretty good deal.
So, I won't be paying for any auto repairs, licence fees and $3.00 plus gas. And I won't have a car depreciating in the garage. And when I really need a car Enterprise will pick me up for nothing. And their rates are pretty reasonable.
A lot of men, and maybe some women, define themselves by their ride. I'm sure my brother did. Maybe in a way I am doing so, too. We'll see how it goes. Perhaps, I'll just have to get wheels. But right now, I'm glad to be second car free.
