I can only guess what prompted our felt penned commentator to add this touch to the newspaper box in Santa Cruz. Fox TV news, however, fits this label. Local and network news is a continuous repeat of the same stories over and over again, plus volumes of weather information we care nothing about and high gloss commercials for pharmaceuticals. Instead of critical thinking on its own, our Gannet newspaper prints a pundit from the left and a pundit from the right as if they were of equal value. We might discover the truth about our community by reading a neighboring cities' daily instead of our own. For too long, the media has been in that same State of Denial that Bob Woodard uses to define the current administration, which, he said on 60 Minutes last night consistently lies to the American people. So, maybe our felt pen poster has it right....
