Got Milk?

Got Milk? = Got Growth Hormone?
If you are like many Americans, you cringe at the idea of taking Growth Hormone. I guarantee that you’re taking it, though. (Unless you are a vegetarian) It’s in your milk, butter, cheese, ice cream and meat.

Few have noticed the current national battle over rBGH, a powerful growth hormone injected into many dairy cows twice a year. It increases milk production 10 to 14%. It’s made by Monsanto Company in St. Louis. You can bet Monsanto was at the Bush Inaugural. They have quite a lobby as does the American Dairy Association. Google rBGH Growth Hormone and you’ll see that I’m not making this up. The battle is on going. Tillamook Cheese is made by a dairy cooperative. Some farmers may refuse to use the hormone, but their milk is mixed with those who use it. Cheese, served everywhere, comes from dozens of sources. Some cheese makers may not use it, but others no doubt do. Try to buy restaurant food without cheese.
Beef cattle and sheep are also injected with Growth Hormone. Eighty percent of beef cattle get the shots.
If Growth Hormone works increases the amount of milk cows produce and makes beef cattle bigger , what do you think it is doing to you? Maybe that’s part of the reason why it’s hard to lose weight in America and to keep it off. But don’t just take my word for it, do the Google search.
By the way, the early colonists didn't drink milk. They churned it into butter. Cows in those days only gave a quart of milk a day. (Today they give 24 quarts a day.) What kind of milk do you drink?

I hadn't ever thought of the growth hormone in relation to weight loss. Crap. I haven't had milk in quite a while.. but I have had 5 kinds of cheese recently.

I have cottage cheese for lunch. It is made by trader joe's. They are usually pretty good at providing food that that doesn't have the growth hormone - but I will have to check.

According to some articles I've seen on line, growth hormone is also a leading form of breast cancer in women. If one could find hormone free chicken or turkey it might be better. There is another problem with cheese. It has lots of fat, and some of it is saturated. That, of course, is why it tastes so good, unfortunately.
