Hankering to make sauerkraut

One of the items found on the site of the new Helping Hands building was a crock which could have a number of uses. A common use in days of old was making sauerkraut. We have friends on the coast who make annual batches. Not hard to do. Basically, you need the crock, salt water and cabbage. Sauerkraut is low calorie and tasty. Looks like a good summer project.

However, the first crop season is strawberrys. Time to check the paper for youpicks. There is no comparison to Oregon strawberries. They just don't have the shelf life of what gets shipped in from California.
