I doubt that anyone would take pleasure from the first picture. Yet the fact is that thousands of Africans were rounded up and sold as slaves throughout the world. Those from Tanzania were victims of
Arab slave traders. However, we cannot forget that three million Africans came to the United States in chains denied of human rights and dignity. The first picture is part of the slave market memorial in Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania.
Tanzania is one of the sixth poorest countries of the world. Its population is stricken by AIDS/HIV, resulting in a huge population of orphans.
St. Mark Lutheran Church in Salem Oregon held its second "baby" shower to benefit the children of Yatima Group Orphanage. The last picture shows contributions made today.
While we can't undo history, we can reach out and help those who suffer. Want to help? Add a comment and we will direct you.
