3rd Anniversary of a War some of us didn't want

Three years ago, millions of us marched hoping to prevent this war.

Bush and Company knew better, so off to war we went. The war has been good for a lot of Americans. The United States has exploded lots of bombs and bullets. That stock pile needs to be replaced. That's a jobs program for quite a few red states. And there are the helicopters shot down. Blackhawks are multimillion dollar war machines. So this has been a jobs program for those industries making Blackhawks and other war machines as well. This has been good for the Carlyle Group, --you know, international investors who bet on both sides of war issues. I believe there is even a food company here in Salem which makes prepacked meals for the troops. And of course, this war has been good for China. China, you say? Yes. We aren't paying this war. We're borrowing the money to pay our war expenses from China. George Bush Sr. got others to pay for the first Gulf War. American tax payers didn't foot the bill on that one. But our children's children will be getting the bill for this one. But that is a little bit of a digression. There are plenty of people in the good old US of A who wanted this war so they could make money off of it. It didn't hurt Bushes re-election bid, either. After all, it could be viewed as unpatriotic not to support a war time president.

But the pain of this war is starting to hit home. Every state and hundreds of communities have deaths to grieve and the crippled to care for. The easy Gulf victory of the father has eluded the son. Maybe even those who get their news from Fox will have an epiphany. There's more to war than profiteering. Let's hope so.
