Ok. We are used to hearing the word "Salem" in political ads and sometimes even in news commentaries as a term of derision. Critics of State Government don't say State Government. They say "Salem", as if all of us who live here are responsible for something they think of as a problem. Well, criticize the State government if you want, but don't use the name of the city as if its residents were to blame.
Better yet, visit the capitol in the capital during the Christmas season. Come especially during the noon hour.
You will hear some of the best Christmas music available all for free. That's because local high schools and other musical groups use the rotunda as the stage for their Christmas concerts. Often the high school choir or orchestra has won its share of awards. And all those who sing or play do their best. Meantime, the rotunda blends the acoustics into a special holiday mix.
