China vs China Town

Two years in China! The thought fills me with apprehension. Yet family members John and Eunice and their daughters signed up for a two year hitch. Eunice is teaching English. John writes of their adventures in his blog, A Short Letter Home. Different food, different clothes, different customs, and so far from home. And what about the children and their schooling? So far, it looks like everything is going well and in many ways China isn't so different than the US of A.
I doubt that we will ever make China, but when ever possible, we visit China Town. I love being immersed in open air vegetable markets, windows filled with whole ducks cooked and ready for purchase, figurines of naughty art, wok shops, street musicians, dim sim restaurants, furniture and wall hangings of every kind and the chatter of foreign language. Visitors from other nations love it too. A week ago while having lunch, we met a couple from Sweden in San Francisco's China Town. And when I'm ready to leave, it's a short trip home. Have any adventures you'd like to share? Put them in the comments section. Thanks for visiting.
