Back in 1988 I went to work for a marketing company headquartered in New Orleans selling life insurance policies for United Companies Life Insurance Company of Baton Rouge. The marketing company had its annual meetings in New Orleans in December, that being the off season. I imagine it made the trip five or six times. Sometimes I went alone, but often they paid for my spouse as well. They were great hosts. On several occaisons we were able to visit family friends in New Oreans as well.
Here is a City that loves sinning. Mardi Gras offers controlled sex and booze for tens of thousands, lighting up the French Quarter with riotous color. Bribery is not unknown in New Orleans and Louisiana. And then there is voodoo and black magic. But as much as they love sinning, they also love repenting. As a Roman Catholic City many take their religion seriously and the repentance is heartfelt.
