Stephen Sondhiem's Music a Hit
Friday night we enjoyed the Chemeketa Community College production of Company, the Stephen Sondheim musical. The story revolves around Robert who is celebrating his 35th birthday. Robert isn't married, a situation which distresses mostly the female members of five or six couples who are close friends. Interactions give a chance to discuss the need for friendships and the value of marriage. Robert was played by Doug Moxley, who by now is a bit older than the Robert he is playing. He has a nice singing voice and played the part well. We remember him from the days he performed at the church's Gong Show and other events which allowed him to go on stage. It was a nice evening with good friends, the point of Company.
