America the Beautiful

Born in Minnesota, raised in Washington State, went to school in Missouri, worked in Montana and Colorado, I now reside in Oregon. I think I know the West pretty well. While I went to a church convention once in New York City, my knowledge of east coast geography has surely been lacking. A few months ago I couldn't even begin to draw a crude map of the east coast states. Quite by accident, I came across the America the Beautiful series in the West Salem Library. There is a book for each state. I've found the format inviting. The writing is concise, with lots of good pictures, history, geography, a time line and points of interest. My mental travel is a good way to spend these foggy Oregon mornings and a lot less expensive than a motor home.
